Salute to This New Year

It is upon us

the coming year

Let’s lift our spirits

and give a cheer

Moments ago, it was year 2008

And we had thought, that we were pretty great

But it’s now, year of our lord, 2009

And we are still wasting

much time

So let’s lift a mug

To our friends at last

with reminiscent prose

And salute the moments

that brought use sweet memories

As 2008 just goes

Look to the future

with friends in tow

As present company sups the wine

That welcomes us to the wondrous journey

Called the year 2009
